About Me

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Data, AI, and Society at the Information School at the University of Sheffield. Previously, I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellow at The University of Edinburgh.

I received my PhD in 2019 from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. I have a MSc in Media and Communications (Merit) from the London School of Economics and Political Science and I received my BA in English (cum laude) from Barnard College, Columbia University.

I have had research appointments in the Research department at Twitter and the Social Media Collective at Microsoft Research New England. I was a 2018 Joint Fellow at the UC Berkeley Center for Technology, Society and Policy and the UC Berkeley Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity. I was also a Guest Researcher at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam from 2018-2019.

Before my academic career, I worked in social media strategy and advertising for close to a decade in New York, Los Angeles, and London. In my tenure at agencies including Saatchi and Saatchi and The Engine Group, I worked on clients in the CPG/FMCG (General Mills, Nestlé), Technology (Samsung, Telefonica), Automotive (Renault, Coda Automotive), Entertainment (20th Century Fox) and Beauty (Estée Lauder) categories.
